Exactly where will the 'High Fives' go?

     My hope is that we will receive enough High Fives to distribute to many facilities and individuals! The list is growing!  Ultimately, it will depend on the number of hands we receive.  Rehab hospitals, hospice units, VA Hospice, etc. 

 

     The High Five - Up High Project was inspired by our brother's commitment and compassion for the patients, residents, and co-workers at a residential rehabilitation center.  He is an occupational therapist who expressed his concerns about how isolation is impacting the overall well-being of everyone. The first intended recipient will be at the rehabilitation center where he works.

   

Why High Fives?

     Hands have the power to heal. High fives feel good and can connect perfect strangers for a moment in time. My hope is that our gesture will remind people of that feeling of connection.  You can choose to do a "hard copy" high five and write a message on it or you can do a "virtual high five."   I like to think of the virtual high fives as Windows to the World! 

 

How wonderful it must be to see a photo of someone with a smile on his or her face when everyone else you see has a mask on!

What does Up High mean?

     "Up High" literally, means when your arm is fully extended above your head before pushing forward to connect with another's hand in a high five.  It means going for the gusto!  For you to contribute to this project means you are reaching above and beyond. You are reaching, UP HIGH! This is not the time to be "down low, too slow."

Can I write my own message?

       *Absolutely! You are what makes this gesture meaningful and unique!  Just follow the guidelines regarding personal identifying information, religious references, and health statements.                                                                                                                                   See Guidelines

 

Can I make more than one?

     It would be fantastic! The more you make, the more we can reach out and connect!  Have you ever tried to high five just one person?  Every single connection matters!    

I encourage you to contribute as many HIGH FIVES as you enjoy making or photos you like taking!

Is it Safe?

     Current information from the CDC, WHO, and USPS states that mail is considered essential.  We will continue to monitor and follow safety guidelines.
